Been taking care of dear Mother-in-love as she has suffered a few more strokes. She is comfortable and surrounded with very good care: my wife, mostly, who almost never leaves her side though her mom is an hour away in a skilled nursing center. Thank you, LORD, for such a giving woman of strength as my Brenda.
Heb 12:1 Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us,
I was reminded this morning that when Yeshua spoke to the issue of what to seek in this life, He wiped every other enterprise and goal off the table as not worthy to be compared with His Kingdom and His righteousness. Hebrews 12, verse 1 agrees completely in that it is obvious we can only run one race at a time.
The words of God, out of Yeshua's mouth by the Holy Spirit, are so complete and a full meal, life itself and nourishing and light for living that counts.
Seek first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness. What to be and what to do.
The one purpose for he who is fully man. This is the right pursuit for the man of the right character. They are married together. This is what you do; this is who you are. There is trouble for a righteous man to pursue another kingdom. There is trouble for the man who seeks the Kingdom of God who is not of the right character. They go together or defeat and despair and depression result. The quickest way to becoming a discouraged Christian is to fail to seek both.
They're not automatically ours by virtue of our being born again. We must seek them both. He commands it. Prima facie evidence we are made to pursue and to attain.
Sow to righteousness. Reap the fruit of righteousness. But we need help because we don't see clearly and we don't deal properly with the actual foundational pillars of the sin that resides within. So, God helps us.
Heb 12:11 Now no chastening for the present seemeth to be joyous, but grievous: nevertheless afterward it yieldeth the peaceable fruit of righteousness unto them which are exercised thereby.
He is good. Praise Him for His love that will not let you go your own way. Submit to the One who sees clearly, Who judges righteously and Who knows what's up ahead.
Jer 29:11-13 For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the LORD, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope. Then you will call upon Me and go and pray to Me, and I will listen to you. And you will seek Me and find Me, when you search for Me with all your heart.
